Take a moment to look at everything your child brings home.

Ask him/her to tell you about school. Ask how and why questions.

Give praise if possible- give hope and concern in praise is
not possible.

Be realistic in expectations.

If your child has homework, provide a quiet place to work
where school materials are kept. Homework should be reviewed together.
Set aside a time each night that the TV is off and there are
as few distractions as possible.

Read to your child every day!

Help or give moral support as needed.

Family members, during homework time, might provide a model
of reading.

If you have questions or concerns be sure to talk with your
teacher. Teachers are always available and want to help.

If your child is absent be sure to call for makeup
work. Please pick up the work after school.

Come prepared to the conference to learn about your child's
progress. Ask question to clarify anything that you might not
understand.

Volunteer at school whenever
possible. This will give you the best picture of your child's day.
