Harvest parties in the classrooms, winter parties Dec 21.
Planning for mobile spirit nights/eat out nights in next few months.
Author Day – request for local authors that would be good for both Oakhills and
Ridgeview. If you have leads/ideas please contact Kate.
6. Jog/Color Run Preview (Heidi)
The history of raising funds at OHRV was explained. In the past, parents wanted to “just donate” to the parent teacher club. Over time, funds declined and parents expressed a desire to have more involved fundraising for students/families. A school-wide, community event would allow for positive involvement and opportunities to learn about education needs. Jog idea to raise funds was well received. This is the one and only big fundraiser for Oakhills and Ridgeview. Every child is asked to participate, teachers play an important role.
See attachment of 2023/2024 Fundraising Events Proposal report provided and shared by Heidi Horch, VP Events.
Brian Patterson should be able to involve The Club.
7. Business from the floor
A question from a parent member (Srikanth Pagadala) about what is available on the school campus’ similar to science/math Olympiad, chess club, field trips, or coding. Kids want extra clubs during/after school. We talked about pre-covid Destination Imagination teams organized by teachers based out of Olympus, Excelsior and Greenhills. Parent led teams. Srikanth had spoken to Ginna Myers about question. School staff may be at capacity and cannot lead. Logistics of a program may be an issue.
What would parents need to be cleared to lead these programs? The interest for clubs is there. Lunch bunch is run by the counselor at RV, chess club is usually once a month.
Wednesday, February 7, 2024 is the next PTC meeting 11:30-1pm. Room 606
8. Adjourn meeting
