Eureka Union School District Seeking Applicants for Open Trustee Position

Eureka Union School District Seeking Applicants for Open Trustee Position

The Eureka Union School District Board of Trustees voted April 15, 2024 to make a provisional appointment to fill the position vacated by Robert Jamieson, DO, who resigned from the board effective April 12, 2024. The alternative to a provisional appointment would have been a special election which, according to Superintendent Tom Janis, would have cost the district approximately $200,000. The vote to make a provisional appointment was unanimous. The person selected will serve until the November election at which time they could run for the remaining two years of Dr. Jamieson’s term, which runs until the 2026 general election.

All applications must be received in the Superintendent’s Office by no later than 4:00 p.m. on May 3, 2024. All interviews will take place in public.

“We are looking for candidates with a commitment to public education and a desire to serve their community,” said Board President Jeff Conklin. “Our schools are the centerpiece of our community so serving on the board is a tremendous way to give back to this community.”
