AI @ EUSD

Artificial Intelligence or AI is taking the world by storm. In considering how to properly implement AI at EUSD we must consider equity, ethical use of technology, safe use of data, and a solid foundation in technical knowledge. With this in mind EUSD is excited to integrate AI into teaching and learning in our classrooms as well as empower staff to learn and use AI in their daily tasks.

Pilot:
Our spring pilot of MagicSchool and Brisk will continue through the first trimester of 2025/2026 to ensure ample opportunity for training for teachers and use in the classroom. At the end of the pilot staff and students will have an opportunity to weigh in on what is adopted by the district with a final decision made by the Instructional Technology Committee.
Safety First:
At Eureka Union School District, student safety and data privacy are paramount. That’s why we’ve chosen to explore MagicSchool AI and Brisk—two platforms that are fully compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). These tools are designed with security at their core, and all student use will be closely monitored by our educators to ensure a safe, transparent, and enriching learning environment.

What’s Next:
The pilot of MagicSchool AI and Brisk will continue in August, September, and October, with a focus on supporting foundational skills for students in the classroom. Teachers will participate in targeted professional development over the summer and into the fall to ensure thoughtful and effective integration of these tools. Student use will be introduced gradually and intentionally, with clear instructional guidance provided to help students understand both the potential and limitations of AI. EUSD remains dedicated to maintaining a safe, secure, and enriching learning environment throughout this pilot process.
